Sadly our visit to El Nido Garden Resort didn’t live up to expectations. The location is good, situated away from the town at the far end of the beach and there is a new Town Square development directly next door which has various food and leisure establishments, the excellent Ap Kala cafe / restobar being the pick of the bunch. The hotel garden area directly adjacent to the beach is lovely looking and the pool is very welcoming. The other garden areas and buildings are not in the best shape and seem to have been neglected in recent years (abandoned resort cafe building, decrepit pool table and the long since used massage area in particular). Part of the garden area by the smoking stall is now used to stare construction garbage and old gates, etc. not especially attractive in a garden resort. Some front of house staff appear to be inexperienced and / or badly trained resulting in low levels of competency and general management. Housekeeping was sporadic and we needed to ask for our room to be cleaned on several occasions even though we had the requested ‘make up my room’ sign displayed. A pre-arrival email request for full personal ID information was received and duly completed and returned to enable a speedy check-in only for the check in staff to say this information doesn’t reach them and they have to take all your personal information again to check you in. Bizarre. The included breakfast does not cater for non-Filipino guests beyond offering some lukewarm bacon and scrambled egg and the option of some toast and bland pastries. Their food offering is very outdated so I opted to pay for breakfast somewhere outside of the hotel. Part of our group stayed in the main hotel building. The rooms were a good size and were of a reasonably up to date decorative standard with a balcony offering sea views in their case. We paid extra for a beachside room / cabana which is decorated in a traditional style circa 1990 and in hindsight this was a big mistake. Firstly, there are 12 cabanas. 6 of which were undergoing total renovation during our stay which meant construction noise from 8am to 5pm daily, there was also additional trench digging between the poolside cabanas and the beach which further disrupted our view and prevented us from enjoying time on our own on our small terrace during the daytime as the construction worker was permanently just a few metres away. What bothers me most about this is that the hotel did not have the decency to advise us of these disruptions prior to arrival. I don’t know why they didn’t do this but I have my suspicions. Secondly, there is a busy beach road right outside the hotel garden and pool area. This is in use 24/7 and the traffic (mostly motorbikes, tricycles and mopeds) is quite noisy and disruptive, especially at night time. Which leads me to the third issue, the incredibly noisy nightclub right next door. As part of the new town square development on the neighbouring plot of land a ‘super nightclub’ has been built. This makes an incredible amount of noise from 10pm until 5.00-5.30am and prevented us from sleeping pretty much every night. I love dance music as much as anyone else but this level of disruption was just crazy and it leads me to advise others to avoid the El Nido Beach Resort if you value a good nights sleep. If the nightclub doesn’t drive you around the bend the barking dogs on the other neighbouring property will do your nut in. I hope the newly renovated cabanas have industrial levels of sound deadening as they are literally just meters away from the new nightclub, prospective users of these rooms should proceed with extreme caution in my view. Overall the resort feels like a fading star. Once beautiful and contemporary but now rather rough and disheveled and in need of significant investment to remain appealing to the modern holidaymaker. I did raise my concerns with hotel management via their email request for booking.com feedback but they have declined to reply to my questions. I think that says a lot about their attitude.

We really like the hotel. Location is perfect. Luxurious clean. Nice staff, more than decent breakfast. WiFi if not great but it works most of the time fast enough. If I could give them one tip is that it would be nice if there is a free or reasonably priced transport service to the ferry. (800 meters for 1000 pesos is overpriced in my opinion

We stayed here for two nights. The pool was amazing with great views. It was walking distance to the town via the street or beach. Lots of restaurants close by. The breakfast was very average, I would skip this next time and go out for breakfast. The WiFi did not work in the room which was a shame as it was the one time we wanted to connect with family back home quickly. Location and pool were perfect!

Nice place great location right on beach. However straightout from resort beach is rocky in water so you need to walk up about 200 meters for sandy swim area. Breakfast was nice buffet with a lot of choices that changed daily. Pool was clean and nice sized but it became to hot to swim in during the day. (Early May visit). Was really only comfortable and refreshing to swim in from about 9pm unfortunately it shut at 10pm everyday. Had all the amenities one should expect but bathroom lighting was weak for trying to shave face and no shower safety mat meant slipping over was an ever present concern. Overall it was nice but I don't really feel it was worth the cost however great the location was.

Here is some aspects from my 4 days stay in El Nido Garden Resorts, including the goods and the bads. Good: 1. Gate guards and staff are all friendly. 2. There’s a pool and a common bar at the fifth floor with a great view of the bay. 3. Breakfast is decent with limited options. 4. Hotel equips with a small gym. 5. Location is nice with walking distance around 5-10 minutes to most restaurants and tour info station. Bad: 1. Room smell moldy even if they try to put on fragrance. 2. Not surprisingly the bathroom corners and floor is indeed a bit molded, so i’m guessing that where the smell is from. Tho they do have air ventilation in the bathroom. 3. Your sim card internet basically won’t work. i’m staying at second floor. The wi-fi works poorly also. 4. TV has noises and works slowly. Could not not be bothered just watching a Netflix. 5. Swimming pool is outside, so the water quality is easily susceptible to elements, such as oil and dust. 6. The outlet next to my bed has the usual and USB sockets, but both charge very slowly!
