Staff were friendly and service was great - situated in a quieter area not far from the busy town about 1 km from the main road. Would have provided a 4 star rating if the private tour the hotel arranged for us wasn't 3 hours late and placed us in a fishing boat with a loud engine when other guests had larger wider boats twice the size of ours. The weather wasn't great and water was coming into the boat which prompted me to end the tour early whilst throwing up over the side on the way home sea sick. Be careful when arranging tours here. I would encourage the staff at the hotel to think about their customers experience and safety first when it comes to tours.
We booked around late August 2022, I believed that the hotel was under new management and owned by European couple. The hotel was very beautiful and with great scenery. Their rooms are big, clean, and they provides free breakfast. The location is kinda far from the town which around 15 - 20 mins walk on the beach during low tide. But the good thing is, the location is very quiet and peaceful. They also provide free shuttle to the main road so don't worry if you don't want to walk 😅 If we plan to go back in El Nido, we will definitely book here again! Highly recommended!
They are under new management, and the new manager and chef, Bastion, brings it gastronomically ! Apparently the menu is set daily based on the morning ingredients shopping. We walked in between lunch and supper, yet Bastion opened his restaurant for us, first whipping up the best pineapple shake and mango shake we had in our El Nido stay, Then after I mentioned a chicken and rice interest, he rattled off a bunch of vegetables from which I picked a few. He added garlic and coconut milk while nixing the tomato as I could see the wheels turning in his mind about what he was about to prepare. An experienced chef from the South of France now in El Nido yielded an amazing result as I savored every bite !!!!! Go out of your way to dine here, or better yet, get a room and eat here every day ! He is in the process of redecorating every room and based on what he has done beachside and in the restaurant, this place is the new hidden gem of El Nido.
Service staff is really good with friendly & helpful people, but rooms are worn out. Rust stains in bed linen, no shower curtains causing flooded bathroom, A/C was dripping, Safe not working properly. However, after complaining, we got a new room, which was slightly better. All in all ok to stay, but not good value for money.
Booked this place as I wanted to be far from the hustle and bustle of El Nido town. The hotel is a 15-min walk away from the town. Starting from the town, you start walking through an alleyway, then through the Caalan beach, then a paved street, then a public cemetery, and then a small barangay. If you feel lazy and don't want to walk the stretch between town and the hotel, or vice versa, you can coordinate with them to have you picked up/dropped off using their service tricycle. We actually took advantage of this one day when the rain was pouring in Palawan. The rooms are clean in my opinion and they definitely incorporated authentic Filipino design into them which I really love. If I remember correctly, the whole place was bought just recently and the new owner did renovations to almost everything. No wonder, most of the furniture looked new and the designs looked modern. They serve breakfast (either Philippine or European style) starting at 7 am but not lunch and dinner. Breakfast in the morning is nice as you are facing the beautiful scenery and waters of El Nido while eating. A picture from the Internet doesn't do justice! There are restaurants and convenience stores between the town and the hotel. Although, expect the prices to be higher than usual here as El Nido is considered a remote place. If you want to eat good food for lunch/dinner, El Nido town is the place to be. The whole staff is friendly and approachable. I actually enjoyed talking to them. They go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay with them. Housekeeping is consistent as we always come back to our rooms clean. If you need island tours, motorcycle rentals, and van transfers to Puerto Princesa, they can book them for you. The only drawbacks I saw were first, our Wi-Fi connection tends to be spotty at times. This is just a heads-up to people who are working remotely. You may want to bring your own portable Wi-Fi here as this issue tends to happen anywhere in El Nido. Second, the water pressure in our room located on the third floor was lacking. Not sure what happened, but there are times water pressure isn't strong enough to even take a shower. ***Big shoutout to Shay for upgrading our room. I accidentally booked two rooms each with two twin beds with no seaview for both rooms. My wife and I made a request to give us a room with a queen bed if it becomes available. Lo and behold, both rooms were upgraded with no additional charge, and to top it off, we now got rooms with seaview. If you are reading this Shay, THANK YOU!!!***
