Sea Cocoon Hotel – Best Hotel In El Nido

This hotel was one of the tallest buildings in downtown El Nido. The rooftop restaurant offered amazing view every morning during the complimentary breakfast. Even though the breakfast menu was limited, every option we tried was great and the service was impeccable. The service at this hotel is the real highlight. Every staff member was friendly and welcoming, and the hotel provided access to clean water dispensers in the hallways and was responsive whenever we needed something like laundry or extra towels. We had a sea facing room and the view every night was great. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony sipping a drink and listening to the people on the main downtown road. We could hear the music from the places, but it never bothered our sleep. I give the rooms 4 stars and not 5 because they did not provide an iron, but otherwise the room was kept clean every day and was in great shape along with a nice spacious bathroom. We never swam in the pool but it was well maintained and the space around the pool was very cozy. The lobby had very nice sitting areas as well. I recommend anyone who wishes to stay in downtown El Nido to stay at sea cocoon. We had a wonderful experience.

We stayed 3 nights at Sea Cocoon in El Nido and had a wonderful time. The room was very spacious, clean and well equipped (good water pressure for the shower); with a great view of the sea. The Sea Cocoon Cafe (where we had breakfast) has delicious food, catered to all tastes and a wonderful 360 degree view of el nido town and the coast line. Lots of seating was available and we found lots of nice areas to work from. The pool area was also very nice to have a break from the town. The hotel is extremely well located in the centre of El Nido town with lots of restaurants at its doorstep and only a short tricycle ride to vanilla beach (costing only 150 pesos). There is a supermarket type shop 30 seconds down the road and the night market is an equal distance. We could not have been closer to everything we needed/wanted! The staff were all extremely polite and always there to give a helping hand when needed. We were pleased to meet one of the owners, Eric, who also helped us throughout our stay and was a wonderful presence - as was his two chow chow’s!! Modern and newly renovated hotel run by friendly staff Pros: Strong air conditioning in rooms (extra blanket provided because it does get cold!) Strong water flow in bathrooms 5 gallon water jugs available for guest refills on the floor Big clean pool with tons of lounging chairs Large lobby with plenty of seating Amazing rooftop restaurant/bar views (the food was also good and prices comparable to other nice restaurants) Free buffet breakfast with unlimited coffee/juice Great quiet location but only a block away from the nightlife Elevator with glass window views Cons: Beds were kind of short (I’m 5’3” and my feet felt like they were about to hang off the bed) There was a mandatory cash-only deposit of ₱3000 upon check-in which would be refunded when you check-out. However, be aware of how many towels you get and how many you return because they will check and charge you for any that are missing. (Due to some confusion with housekeeping having us gather our towels and exchanging them while we were actively using one, we came up one towel short. Thankfully we got it figured out.)

Wow! What a great place. I absolutely loved staying at Sea Cocoon. It was so clean, very easily accessible but most of all the most friendly and helpful staff. The gentlemen who works at reception is lovely, I think he's been there for 20 years he said. The owner is so lovely as well, very accommodating and friendly. When I come back to El Nido I will definetely be staying at Sea Cocoon!! Look no further you won't be disappointed!! 5 stars all round

Unfortunately a case of one negative outweighing the positives. Exceptional location, breakfast and coffee provided were decent, served on the rooftop deck overlooking the bay which is also great for dinner and drinks. Can't complain about the room, spacious with a comfortable bed, aircon was a little noisy but worked very well, bathroom was clean, great shower. Unfortunately there was a sign by the pool saying it was under maintenance for the duration of the stay. To me it appeared they had run out of chlorine or had an issue with the pump as it was just turning green. The staff were generally very friendly but this wasn't communicated at all or when it was likely to be fixed. To say El Nido is hot is an understatement, and when you pay decent money for accommodation that advertises a pool and then it's out of action is pretty disappointing. Would have been better to have this explained, an alternative organised like access to a different hotel's pool area, or some sort of compensation. If the pool was running this would easily be a 5 star review
